At the beginning of the week we got a litte harvest of the very early apples. I am thankful for every harvest we get this late summer and fall - as we didn't do anything to it - but those apples are unfortunately not very good. They get damaged by wasps and other insects already on the tree and some rotted before we picked them. Nontheless, a basket full we might bring in and hopefully there'll be enough for one pie at least.
However, the main project of the week was to clear this forsythia jungel. The former owner had not done anything and the bushes were just growing everywhere. Did you know that every branch that touches the ground can develop roots and become a new own bush?! Puh! (Furthermore the forsythia is rather useless for the birds and animals in the garden as the flowers do not produce any pollen and no fruits...).
Most of all I need the space for my new compost!

My garden highlight today was a squirrel visiting my workspace!
Finally, let's talk garden fashion! When I work in the garden I wear my oldest shorts and my oldest t-shirts. A pair of well-worn trekking shoes and of course gloves and earmuffs make my outfit complete. However, when I meet my neighbours I feel really badly dressed. Everybody here seems to have fancy garden clothes. Hm, I think, I stay with my clothes and try to improve my selfconfidence, but I feel really strange sometimes.
What do you wear when you're working in the garden?
The lovely Amanda, aka SouleMama, gives us a glimpse
of her garden once a week. From now I’ll try to join once a week to show you a
little of my almost brand new garden until the end of the gardening season.
